Doha: Residents will no longer need a health card to access services at Hamad Medical Corporation, primary health centers and other health facilities. Instead, a valid National Identification (QID) card will be used, Minister of Public Health Mansour bin Ibrahim Al Mahmoud has issued a circular allowing residents to use a valid National Identification (QID) card.
The circular stated that residents will continue to be charged the previously approved fee for the health card and annual renewal. When residents present their National ID (QID) card, their health number is verified by the systems at health institutions and ensures that the necessary health services are provided.
Circular No. 10 of 2026 stipulates the cessation of printing health cards for residents.
In September 2025, the Ministry announced the decision of the Minister of Public Health to issue a National ID (QID) card free of charge to Qatari citizens instead of a health card.
The Ministry recommends that citizens and residents carry their QID cards when visiting health facilities.
This decision is in line with the Ministry’s efforts to simplify administrative procedures, standardize official documents used by government institutions, and improve the patient experience.
