
JAKARTA: An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale has struck west of Mount Sinabung in Indonesia. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.

The U S Geological Survey said the quake’s epicenter was at a depth of 10 kilometers.

Earthquakes are common in parts of Indonesia, which is located on the Pacific Ring of Fire. Several tectonic plates collide there, causing frequent volcanic and seismic activity.
